Your Holiday Checklist


Hand Luggage
  • Required medication
  • Camera, laptop, and mobile phone
  • MP3/CD player , or any other electronic devices, and spare   batteries
  • Spectacles and contact lenses
  • Cash for arrival at destination
  • Small travel guide
  • Support socks/leg warmers for long flights
  • Books, newspapers, magazines, etc
  • Bottled water
  • Sweets for take-off and landing, to help stop your ears popping
  • Check current official restrictions on hand luggage

Documents and Important Paperwork:

  • Tickets
  • Confirmation of flight reservation
  • Photocopies of documents
  • Email copies of documentation to yourself
  • Receive up-to-date vaccinations for your destination
  • Travellers’ cheques, credit cards and necessary currency
  • European health insurance Card (EHIC)
  • Labels on your luggage clearly stating your home and outbound   address
  • Valid passport/Visa
  • Valid driving licence (international, if required)
  • Any travel insurance


House and pets:
  • Remember to lock all windows and doors
  • If your house is alarmed then make sure you leave the code with   someone   you trust, and inform them of your holiday details
  • Remember to unplug all electrical appliances, except fridge and   freezer
  • Leave spare keys and contact details someone you trust, e.g.   family relatives, neighbou
  • Throw or give away any fresh food
  • Ask someone to water your plants
  • Ask someone to check on the house and collect post. For long   periods of  travel, have the post office hold your mail
  • Leave a few lights on or set timers to make your house look   occupied
  • If your car is alarmed, leave spare keys with someone
  • If you have any pets then arrange for cattery/kennels, feeders   and walkers

General packing:


  • Universal adaptors, travel plugs, and chargers
  • Toiletries
  • Phrasebook/guidebook for your destination
  • A first-aid kit
