Launch Of New Global Rail Website

Tue, 12 Dec 2006

People looking to book global journeys through rail travel will be pleased to know that www.seat61.com, the train and ferry travel advice website, has launched a new microsite for its customers .

The award winning website contains over 66,000 routes in Europe and North America, and the new addition will give customers the opportunity to purchase over 30 variations of rail passes for travel in over 35 countries worldwide.

The new advanced website will offer a quick and simple way to book rail travel with features such as real time reservations and next day delivery of tickets, online tracking, maps and timetables.

International Rail’s European Director of Marketing, Omid Golshan, said, "We are very excited to be working with Mark Smith, the Man in Seat Sixty One. He is widely recognised as the train travel guru, offering honest and practical advice on all aspects of train travel . The partnership is excellent news for consumers who can now read the advice, on the same trusted website ."

"We are looking forward to a successful relationship especially at this time when rail travel is growing in popularity and ease of booking on the Internet is key to success," he continued.

‘Train travel guru’ Mark Smith, also commented on the project, saying, "It’s all about making it easy for people to find out about and book safe, comfortable, train travel, a much more environmentally friendly and rewarding way to travel than flying for journeys in Europe and around the world."

"It’s great that linking with International Rail is helping me do just that."
