The European Union (EU) has banned 93 airlines from landing at European airports, because of safety risks. The ban includes airports in Britain.
The EU has produced a blacklist naming airlines that failed international safety standards.
Some airlines were banned for having an "inadequate system for regulatory oversight" on safety standards and were named as being cargo and passenger carriers from Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone, Swaziland and Liberia.
Also on the barred list is 50 carriers from Congo alone, 14 from Sierra Leone and seven from Swaziland.
Restrictions on flights to Europe will be faced by Ariana Afghan Airlines, South Koreas Air Koryo and Thailands Phuket Airlines. But lesser restrictions will be put on Air Bangladesh and Buraq Air from Libya.
Jacques Barrot, EU Transport Commissioner said, "This will keep dubious airlines out of Europe." The list will be reviewed in three months.
