Gulf Air Airline has been awarded the 'Best Business Airline' award by members of the UK travel trade and consumers. The ceremony took place at the British Travel Awards in London, which were held on the final day of the World Travel Mart expo.
The airline, owned by both Bahrain and Oman, beat off strong competition from other popular carriers, such as Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, British Airways, Virgin, Malaysian Airlines, Etihad, Singapore Airlines and EOS.
Ahmed Al Hammadi, Gulf Airs acting president and chief executive said, "It is a great recognition for our successful brand led business strategy, strengthened by world class premium products and impeccable service standards.
"From exclusive check in facilities, to superbly appointed business lounges to award winning first class and business class products, Gulf Air has become an airline of choice with the world business community.

The World Travel Market is Britain's biggest annual travel trade show. It provides a unique opportunity for the whole travel trade industry to meet up, negotiate, discuss, conduct business, and stay ahead of the latest developments in the industry.
The award for Best Business Airline' was given out on the final day of the expo, as well as many other awards for various other categories.
Vice President of the airline, Lee Shave, commented by saying, "The award verifies our strong presence in the UK market.
"Our economy class has also been doing very well, with a growth of 35 per cent thanks to the growing popularity of Oman as a fast growing business and tourism destination."
2006 has proved a very successful year for Gulf Air, with the latest award being added to awards received earlier in the year by SkyTrax for 'Best Onboard Catering Excellence' and the 'Best Regional Airline .'
