People planning cheap holidays abroad will be pleased to know that easyCruise and eBay are linking up to offer travellers the chance to bid online for a cheap get away on board a cruise ship .
The deal between Stelios Haji-Ioannou's easyCruise, and Internet auction site eBay will work by allowing customers to start bidding at just £1 for a holiday, or hit the "buy it now" price from £30 per person for a two-night trip.
The link up between the two companies seems to be a match made in heaven, an opinion confirmed by the owner of easyCruise. Mr Haji-loannou, one of the pioneers of low cost transport, said, "Our primary business has always come via our internet site, easyCruise.com, so to link with the world's online market place is obviously a perfect fit."
EasyCruise was launched last year by Haji-Ioannou, the son of a Greek Cypriot shipping tycoon, in a bid to emulate the success he has enjoyed with easyJet since 1995. EasyJet has became a symbol for low cost, no frills flights, and was a major factor in shaping the way European airlines now operate.
By 2008, around 1.5 million Britons are expected travel on a cruise ship, which means a 50 per cent rise since 2004, according to the Passenger Shipping Association (PSA).
The easyCruise company is currently offering trips on the Italian and French Rivieras and a cruise around both Holland and Belgium . A tour of the Caribbean will be available for future travellers in the next few weeks.
