Around 2.5 million British travellers are heading abroad this week, with many escaping to the to Mediterranean in search of some Easter sun, but the forecast is not so bright.
Travel agents have reported that more people than ever are planning trips abroad for the two-week Easter break.
The Met Office predicts that long spells of rain will hit holiday resorts in the south of France, southern Spain, Portugal, Italy, and even as far as Turkey .
On the other hand Britain will enjoy uninterrupted sunshine and temperatures as high as 18C (64F), according to forecasters.
The weather will drop slightly for tomorrow and Wednesday, but temperatures will rise again on Thursday as the country looks forward to the four-day Easter break.
It is bad news for those flying abroad, as massive queues are also expected at UK airports, along with long tailbacks on the roads and packed trains.
Floods have already hit Spain, with Palma in Majorca receiving twice its average monthly rainfall in just two days last week, and storm clouds sweeping in for the rest of the week.
Met Office forecaster Andrew Sibley said, "The situation in the Mediterranean this week will be one of heavy showers with temperatures on the cool side, especially compared to what you would expect there for the time of year."
"It will be around 16C (61F) in Britain on Monday and as high as 18C (64F) in London . For most of the rest of the week, it will be about 14C (57F) or 15C (59F)," he added.
