British families are choosing more adventurous summer destinations when picking their holidays, according to one expert.
Lucy Ace, managing director of holiday advice website Take The Family, said that while the likes of Spain and Italy offer "a winning formula" for parents searching for breaks that cater to their childrens needs, other countries are becoming increasingly popular with families.
She explained: "At Christmas and the New Year places like the Seychelles are fabulous, especially as jet lag is kept to a minimum."
"Families are definitely becoming more adventurous, we feature trips for young children to South America and the Far East ."
"We even have infant adventure Holidays where children over one year old can enjoy Jordan and the Dead Sea, or the pyramids in Egypt !"
She added that an increasing number of UK residents were being encouraged to holiday abroad due to a combination of the availability of cheap flights and the miserable British weather, with many booking last minute deals .
More than two-thirds of parents in Britain believe that taking the kids to foreign destinations is cheaper than holidaying in the UK, according to a recent study by Mothercare and Mother and Baby Magazine.
