Gatwick Airport has the worst airport delays in Britain, a new survey has revealed.
The study, carried out by delay-monitoring website ukairportdelays.co.uk found that the airports average check-in time was 23 minutes.
The average time for passengers to pass through security was 44 minutes, while getting through immigration took holidaymakers 34 minutes.
London Airports made up the top three, with Stansted being ranked second, flowed by Heathrow . Manchester Airport and Leeds Bradford fifth made up the top five.
David Speakman, chairman of travel agents Travel Counsellors, helped set up the website and commented: "Despite this summer's outcry about airport standards, I'm livid that airports are still continuing to treat travellers with such disdain."
"The airports have a 27-point list of performance standards they are supposed to uphold for airlines . But airport operator BAA has had the audacity to ask for this set of standards to be put on hold for the opening of Heathrow's Terminal 5 in March 2008."
"With that lack of accountability passengers are going to be left completely in the lurch and we need to complain hard and fast now to stop this happening," he added.
