The UKs leading self catering operator, Hoseasons, have responded to recent views in a survey published by Mother &Baby magazine, which bemoan the lack of quality British holidays for families .
Hoseasons Chief Executive Richard Carrick challenged the views of the study : "We didnt want the public to think that this survey, which suggests families are unhappy with the quality of UK breaks, reflected the full range of family holidays available."
"This survey covered all elements of UK holidays, but the headlines have been grabbed by the negative view of families visiting hotels . We have to recognise that UK hotels only represent a small part of the UK family holiday market and ensure that stories like this dont become a stick to beat the rest of the industry with."
"Self catering is the number one option for a great number of families taking a break in Great Britain. This is because the beauty of a self-catering holiday, whether on a park, cottage or boat, is the flexibility the break provides."
The chief executive added that the quality of self-catering accommodation in the UK holiday market has never been better, with families having a greater range of breaks to choose from than ever before.
"Over the last 10 years the quality of the experience has improved enormously with fantastic indoor and outdoor facilities at holiday parks, cottages with games rooms and even boats with DVDs and Xboxs."
"At Hoseasons we have worked closely with our customers to respond to their requirements and have ensured that pricing structure, something people were concern about in survey, remains completely transparent which is one of the many reasons why we believe that UK family self-catering holidays are as popular as ever."
