The number of British holidaymakers travelling to South Africa is increasing, according to new research .
South African Tourism figures have revealed that 219,639 British tourists travelled to the African country between January and May - a 2.3 per cent rise from the same period in 2006.
In addition, figures for May were up by six per cent from last year's data.
UK country manager Lebo Mokhesi said: "We are obviously thrilled with the increasing numbers of travellers who see South Africa as an exciting destination ."
"Whether visitors are looking for adventurous family holidays or more tailored holidays offering a variety of experiences such as spa or wildlife, South Africa has something for everyone," Mokhesi added.
Two weeks ago, golf writer Larry Gould suggested that the "sky's the limit" for golf tourism in South Africa because of the high-quality facilities and infrastructure in place in the country's Garden Route region.
