Central and South American destinations, usually perceived or labelled as "dangerous" are set to rocket in popularity throughout 2008, according to figures from responsibletravel.com.
The website has already seen a massive 259 per cent annual increase in the number of enquiries regarding Nicaragua, while both Guatemala and Honduras have also experienced huge growth.
The websites managing director and co-founder, Justin Francis, said: "We're also predicting an increase in popularity for Colombia in 2008 as more tour operators begin to offer trips there and people become more confident about getting off the beaten track."
Other popular destinations for those seeking adventure next year are set to include Brazil, which experienced a 95 per cent rise in tourists in 2007, Argentina, Chile and Bolivia, while conservation projects in Madagascar will make the African island one to watch.
