A new survey has revealed that the average Briton will spend 46 days out of their adult life delayed in airports.
The research has shown how British adults will take an average of three flights a year, with 25 per cent of all flights taken by Brits being delayed.
A total of 2,887 travellers were included in the research that was carried out to coincide with the launch of a new flight information website, streamthru.com, which sends information directly to your mobile .
The poll not only revealed how 50 per of travellers expected delays, but also how 14 per cent have completely missed a holiday due to delays, with a 5 per cent also missing crucial business meetings .
Spanning all major UK airports and airlines including British Airways, Ryanair, and easyJet, StreamThru provides passengers with the latest information on flight schedules and possible delays direct to their mobile phone .
The website will provide passengers with an option to receive confirmation of their flight number and times on the day of travel, as well as reminders on boarding times, departure gates and whether their flight is delayed and if so by how long.
Managing Director of StreamThru, Mike Atherton said, "These results make for grim reading and so its no surprise that today more than half of airline travellers say they actually expect there to be a problem with their flight ."
"Weve all experienced the stress and inconvenience that delayed or cancelled flights can cause and as flight numbers continue to boom this is a problem thats not going away."
"To help combat this StreamThru is a free service that is the first in the country to offer travellers SMS flight updates to their mobiles on the day they travel, as well as updates on boarding times and departure gates when at the airport. This means travellers always have flight information to hand and can actually take action should delays look likely," he concluded.
