New figures have revealed that a rising number of British holidaymakers are visiting the USA during Spring.
Statistics published from the US department of commerce showed a total of 3.9 million visitors from around the world headed to the country during this three-month period, a rise of nine per cent year-on-year.
UK travellers accounted for 43 per cent of all visitors to the USA during the quarter, with the number of British arrivals rising by three per cent overall.
Meanwhile, total foreign tourist spend was reported to account for $9.6 billion (£4.8 billion) over the same period - a year-on-year increase of 11 per cent.
The government department suggested that the slightly earlier Easter holidays in 2007 could be the reason behind the overall increase in visitor numbers.
A number of airlines have recently set out plans to increase transatlantic routes, with new flights to Orlando being launched by Virgin Atlantic over the weekend and premium class airline Eos Airlines announcing extra services to New York .
Another popular destination for Britons is Germany, as figures from the German National Tourist Office indicated that nights spent in the country by British tourists have risen by nearly seven per cent over the first quarter of 2007.
