British Tourists Head For Bulgaria

Around 5.6 million tourists are expected to visit Bulgaria this year - a 10 per cent boost to the country’s tourism sector, with a large amount of travellers coming from the UK .

Last year saw revenue from tourism in the country reach a record of one billion Euros.

It has benefited greatly from joining the EU, which increases the visibility of the country as a tourist destination.

Eastern Europe tourism in general, particularly in the Balkans, has been gaining vast popularity, and represents great value-for-money when compared to its western European counterparts, according to Alex Pilkington, sales manager for directline-holidays .

Tourists are starting to book holidays to the Balkans because of its wide variety on offer, from sunny beaches to world class ski resorts . It is also offers package tours at very low prices .

With an increasing number of Britons choosing activity holidays and most of them turning to the mountain slopes, a rise in Bulgaria skiing holidays has followed.

British ski specialists have recommended Bulgaria due to its affordable winter sports holidays available, with Pamporovo, Bansko, and Borovets the most popular resorts.
