Low fares airline company, Ryanair, has been accused of over charging its passengers.
The airline has been effectively charging passengers an extra fee, even if they have travelled without luggage .
New charges are being imposed which will cost travellers, flying without baggage, an extra £4 for return flights when booked on their website. This will be added to the £7 return fee already imposed for every item placed in the hold.
Once the flight has been chosen, passengers are requested by the airline to select how many bags will be checked in. The only option given for those without luggage includes a priority boarding charge of £4 return.
Only when this option has been selected does another choice appear on the screen giving you the opportunity to remove the charge, a flaw that completely takes customers by surprise.
"The priority boarding fee is entirely discretionary and 80 per cent of our passengers opt not to use the service," said a spokesman for the company .
The spokesman continued by saying that the airline does not initially offer those without luggage an option to travel without the priority boarding fee, which was 'to bring this time-saving service to people's attention'.
It is estimated that £8 million could be earned as extra income during 2007, if around 20 per cent of passengers are to use the service .
