Brides and grooms from the UK are increasingly looking to warmer locations to tie the knot, new research has revealed.
Tropical destinations such as Mauritius and Saint Lucia head the list of winter wedding spots abroad, mainly due to the great weather and the opportunity to escape large family gatherings.
Carol Richardson, PR manager for wedding resource Confetti, explained the attraction of winter weddings in the Caribbean for Brits about to take their vows.
"For a lot of people its an opportunity to go on a longer honeymoon, because businesses are closed," she said.
"Certainly it prevents a lot of the fuss of organising a huge wedding where all your relations are invited lots of people are attracted to that and it does give a guarantee of good weather, usually."
According to WeddingsAbroad.com, one in ten UK couples plan on having their weddings in a foreign country this winter.
The weddings website says that getting married can be done "much more cheaply" if couples bring their honeymoons forward and have their ceremonies abroad .
