Eurostar is being forced to cancel its cross-channel services this week because of industrial action being taken by public sector workers in France .
The rail operator has cancelled six of its services for Thursday and four for Friday and advised passengers not to travel for the remainder of the week as other trains may also be affected.
Extra trains are still being laid on for people heading to Saturday's Rugby World Cup final in Paris, which is expected to see around 25,000 people travel back and forth from the UK to France .
A spokeswoman for the rail company said that roughly 40 per cent more passengers would use the cross-Channel rail service between midday on Thursday and Saturday afternoon, compared with the same period last year. She added that industrial action is due to start on Thursday.
The cancelled services include five London-Paris routes on Thursday, along with one from London to Brussels, while no Eurostar services will stop at Calais that day.
The rail operator said there would be no services on the Paris urban transport network, including the Metro, on Thursday and "very limited" TGV services on the French high-speed network .
Four more services are cancelled on Friday - one from Paris to London, and the others between London and Brussels .
Eurostar passengers will be able to exchange affected tickets .
