British holidaymakers are being specifically targeted by New Yorks State division of tourism for 2008 in an effort to strenghten the relationship between the UK and US tourism markets.
The division said it will bring its largest-ever tourism delegation to World Travel Market 2007, as it aims to develop its relationship with British tour operators and increase traffic to the state.
Director of international marketing for New York State, Markly Wilson, said that research has been undertaken that has highlighted the importance of the UK market to the American tourism market.
He added that many UK tourists are combining a visit to New York with trips upstate, which also include fishing, food and wine tasting and a range of outdoor activities .
"This year tourism representatives showcasing the diverse regions of New York State including the Adirondack Mountains, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, the Finger Lakes and Niagara will be present at World Travel Market to work with the UK travel trade to further develop the NYC product available to the UK traveller," Wlison explained.
New York State shares its border with Canada and is home to four mountain ranges the Adirondacks, the Catskills, the Shawangunks and the Taconics as well as the Niagara Falls, making it an attractive destination for active holidaymakers.
