Devon is becoming an increasingly attractive short break destination for family getaways while still proving to be one of the UKs most popular destinations for a traditional two week holiday, new research has revealed.
A survey by hotel operator Holiday Inn Express found that an increasing number of families are opting for multiple short breaks throughout the year to help them deal with the stresses of everyday life.
The nationwide poll of 5,000 people revealed that 72 per cent believe that shorter breaks are a more affordable way of treating the family.
The research also found that the popularity of UK based short breaks is on the up due to an increase in travellers environmental awareness, which has led to many holidaymakers opting against the use of air travel .
"The family holiday is alive and well in Devon and we're confident that those who choose to spend their two weeks with us have a fantastic time and return year after year," said Destination Devon representative Angela Wright.
"In fact the current average stay in the English Riviera of Devon is a healthy seven days so we must have that extra factor that makes people want to stay for longer.
"Devon is also perfect for those wanting the multiple shorter breaks as, unlike many areas of the UK, we can offer visitors a totally different experience each time," Wright added.
