A series of eco-friendly travel guides have been launched in a bid to promote the world's greenest destinations to UK travellers.
The first version of the Ecoescape guide was initially launched by author Laura Burgess last year but will now be re-launched following a deal with Markham Publishing, also responsible for producing the Green Guides series.
The first instalment of Ecoescape will cover the UK, followed by a guide on Ireland due for release in May.
Further guides covering the islands of Britain and another titled "Budgets and Backpacks " will be published later this year, while in 2009 there will be four more Ecoescape guides introduced, including one for France .
The books have been designed to highlight the appeal of environmentally friendly travel destinations around the globe and feature "handpicked experiences that are sustainable from start to finish".
A list of all businesses that meet strict green criteria are also included, along with tips on how holidaymakers can reduce their carbon footprint when travelling abroad .
Markham Publishing confirmed that the guides will be available to purchase in bookstores as well as specialist organic and wholefood retailers .
