Countries in Eastern Europe with their own currencies can offer the best value holiday destination in terms of a favourable exchange rate for travellers looking to get the most out of the pound, an expert has claimed.
According to John Nicholas, director of website Travelex.co.uk, destinations in Eastern Europe which still have their own currency, such as Slovakia, Bulgaria and Croatia, are continually gaining in popularity with holidaymakers looking to get the best value for money on their travels .
"The pound recently hit its all-time low against the euro and savvy travellers are looking to other destinations to make their cash go further," he explained.
He added that the consistently strong performance of the pound against the dollar has meant that " summer breaks to popular tourist destinations in the USA will also offer a good return on investment ".
In addition, a report released last month by the Post Office suggested that long-haul destinations such as Hong Kong, the Caribbean and Dubai also currently offer good value for British travellers.
