Spain has been named as one of Europe’s best destinations for family holiday accommodation by members of online travel community TripAdvisor .
A survey of 2,400 of the website’s members polled about cheap family holidays suggested that eight out of the top ten accommodation options are situated in mainland Spain and its archipelagos of the Canary Islands and the Balearics.
The most highly rated hotel by the site’s users was on the island of Mallorca, with second place going to a hotel in Lanzarote and other establishments in Mallorca, Menorca and Cyprus making up the top five.
Other locations that received recommendation from respondents included Lloret de Mar in Catalonia, Spain and Belek in Turkey .
Over 50 per cent of those polled by TripAdvisor cited money as their biggest barrier to taking a family holiday, while nearly a third said keeping to a budget was the most difficult aspect.
The poll also revealed that almost a third of British holidaymakers are planning on taking more family holidays over the next 12 months than in the last year.
