Many luxury 5-star hotels across the globe are offering significant discounts on rates in a bid to lure tourists during the current economic climate, a travel expert has revealed.
In an article for the Sunday Times, writer Susan d'Arcy said cash-strapped holidaymakers can take advantage of a number of attractive offers for stays at hotels in a number of popular holiday destinations such as Miami, Mexico, Phuket and New York .
The travel writer also singled out special offers at high-class hotels in The Maldives and Bali as ideal for travellers seeking a tropical getaway at a discount price.
D'Arcy suggested that many owners of luxury hotels are offering seductive rates as they are finding it is the only way to attract customers affected by the credit crunch .
She added that some 5-star resorts are currently offering as much as 50 per cent off introductory rates.
