Holidaymakers taking so-called Super Breaks have been identified as a new group of travel trendsetters by Expedia.co.uks first report on travel trends.
The Trend Report by the online company highlighted that travellers taking trips to exotic long-haul destinations such as Dubai, Hong Kong or South Africa for a long weekend form what they described as 'Super Breaks'.
The Expedia report, which combines research from travellers and hoteliers based in UK and across Europe, found that British holidaymakers are becoming savvier when it comes to booking online breaks, with the 'search, look and book' trend expected to continue into 2008.
Other highlighted trends revealed that travellers are also willing to book cheap flights in order to fund their stay at a higher rated hotel at their holiday destination .
Holidaymakers are also focused on saving time at their destination, with 'extras' such as car hire, cookery lessons and attractions being booked at the same time as flights and accommodation .
The report found that travellers are more becoming more reliant on customer reviews, when it comes to choosing a hotel, instead of than taking credence from star ratings.
Rival travel company lastminute.com identified the long-haul short break as growing in popularity nearly two years ago.
