Tour operator Thomas Cook has revealed its tips for Easter holiday hotspots, with South Africa, Tenerife and Thailand set to be high in demand among UK travellers.
The travel company also tipped holidaymakers to make Paris and Rome their first choice destinations for a city break .
"Disneyland Paris is also a key choice especially with Eurostars recent move to St Pancras making it more accessible throughout the UK," said a spokesperson for the operator.
"For those looking for something warmer, Monte Carlo, Lisbon, Madrid and Seville are popular with those after a short break in the sun."
She added that sunny Spanish destinations such as Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote are also popular retreats around Easter as they cater to a variety of travellers.
Online travel agent Travel Counsellors revealed the cost of the average holiday taken at Easter increased from £1,533 in 2006 to £2,376 per booking last year.
Parents often see the Easter period has a popular time to take a family holiday abroad, as they are able to take advantage of school holidays and cut price deals by some airlines on early summer breaks.
