American Airlines has been voted the Best International Airline 2007 thanks to readers of online travel portal, Travel Weekly.
The airline scooped the accolade after being chosen from a list of five finalists, which included British Airways, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic, at a recent Travel Weekly awards ceremony.
The worlds largest airline received roughly 5,000 votes from Travel Weekly readers, which included travel agents, marketing executives and holidaymakers.
Kurt Stache, vice president and general sales manager of the US division of American Airlines, commented: "We appreciate the travel agency community and all the other Travel Weekly readers who recognised (our) achievements in international flying."

He added that the international travellers with the airline are now offered a new $1.3 billion (£6.4 billion) terminal at New Yorks JFK International Airport along with improved facilities at its Miami and Dallas hubs.
