Car rental firm Europcar is now offering its customers the chance to reserve a car before boarding their flight, thanks to its new fast-track check-in service .
The firms new "Airside" initiative allows customers travelling from Gatwick and Edinburgh into many of the key UK airports to have their car rental reservations processed before making their way onto the plane.
Europcar said the scheme, which has already been successfully piloted, will work by airport officials at the departure airport contacting the renting location to verify the customers details, ensuring a "seamless service" at the destination airport.
David Alexander, the firms director of operations said: "Now customers can check-in their car for rental before they board the plane, safe in the knowledge that the rental agreement will be pre-printed and the vehicle will be allocated before they even take off."
"This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to improving the customers rental experience, strengthening the position of the Europcar brand as the leading car rental provider in the UK and Europe," he added.
Europcar has a fleet of over 241,000 vehicles, which are spread across its 5,300 rental outlets in a total of 160 countries .
In 2006, the company secured nearly ten million rental contracts from clients based in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Latin-America and the Asia-Pacific region.
