Africa tour provider Okavango Tours and Safaris has won the 2008 Travel Company of the Year award from the Association of Independent Tours Operators .
The Africa specialist claimed the prestigious accolade for the second time in the small companies category after topping the annual AITO Customer Satisfaction Survey .
The travel industry award reflects Okavango Tours and Safaris continuing commitment in offering tailor-made itineraries specific to the needs of clients wanting to explore Africa .
This years award makes it the third-year running that an African operator has come out top in the annual survey .
Jane Durham, Managing Director of Okavango Tours &Safaris, spoke of her delight that an African operator had taken the accolade again.
"We have all been reading the headlines on the plight of Kenyas people, and our hearts go out to all who are affected," she commented.
"But we are seeing, and will continue to see, lots of good work among tour operations like ours and the people on the ground - proof of how we can work together through tourism and create satisfying holidays ."
Okavango Tours and Safaris has built up long-standing relationships with dozens of camps situated across Africa and the Indian Ocean, including Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, South Africa, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zanzibar .
Durham said over 60 per cent of Okavangos clients are repeat customers and word-of-month recommendations, and added that respect for the African people and environment is a key factor to the companys ongoing success.
