Tourism in Turkey is set to increase by up to 4 per cent this year, travel experts have revealed.
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) have revealed that early bookings to Turkey and Portugal are becoming more common, with Turkey emerging as the fourth most popular package holiday destination for 2008.
Rhiannon Williamson, director of expatriate and international lifestyle magazine ShelterOffshore.com said: "The World Travel and Tourism Council estimates that between now and 2017 there will be at least an average four per cent growth in tourism arrivals in Turkey annually."
"One factor in its favour is that more low-cost airlines are flying into Turkeys airports."
Such budget flight services, including easyJets new route to Dalaman, may encourage more tourists to visit the nation, Williamson added.
Turkey is particularly popular among British tourists, with many enjoying their visit so much that they decide to go one step further and purchase a property in the country .
Official figures published in the Guardian revealed that an estimated 17,000 Brits have property in the Eastern European country .
