The Algarve region in Portugal has been recommended to holidaymakers as one of the best places to visit this August.
The Mediterranean nation has been ranked by the Conde Nast Traveller magazine as one of the worlds top ten destinations for visiting next month, which is traditionally Portugals hottest period of the year.
The travel magazines report dispelled the common ideology that the Algarve is a place "colonised by English and German holidaymakers" by advising travellers of another side to the region, which "boasts a red-cliffed coastline and idyllic whitewashed Moorish villages".
According to the Lonely Planet travel guide, the Portuguese region is a holiday heaven with unspoilt islands, traditional old towns and wooded hills for holidaymakers to explore.
It adds that summer visitors can enjoy scorching hot summer temperatures, stunning scenery and seas warm enough to swim in with comfort.
