Las Vegas tourism officials are to launch a new campaign aimed at attracting more UK tourists to the US city .
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has appointed British firm Hills Balfour Synergy to operate a marketing and PR drive in a bid to boost the citys profile with tourists across the Atlantic .
The visitors authority said it aims to increase the number of international visitors to Las Vegas from 4.7 million in 2007 to 6.2 million by 2010, with an additional 32,000 hotel rooms expected to be available in the city by 2011.
"We are currently executing out first Las Vegas sales mission along with the team from Las Vegas and we are conducting meetings with all our trade partners," commented Amanda Hills, managing director of the Hills Balfour Synergy.
Las Vegas has been described by the Lonely Planet Travel guide as a city that is "all about glamour for its own sake" and is ideal for holidaymakers seeking razzmatazz and "over-the-top" hustle.
