Cruise holidays are becoming increasingly popular with families, according to claims by The Co-operative Travel .
The UKs largest independent holiday retailer said more parents are taking their kids on cruise breaks as the industry has become better equipped at catering for such holidaymakers.
Trevor Davis, member of The Co-operative Travel, said the latest range of cruise ships have "gone to a lot of trouble to broaden out their appeal" and include a host of activities to keep young ones entertained such as "surf pools, climbing walls and kids clubs" .
He added that some cruise ships are now large enough to allow travellers to have a "whole world of holidays" onboard and have become "mini floating resorts ".
Last month the travel group revealed that family bookings for cruise holidays had risen by 31 per cent and that family customers now accounted for 10 per cent of all cruise passengers.
