British travellers looking to take their young ones on a family break have been advised to opt for self-catering holidays .
According to the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), self-catering breaks are the ideal choice for parents taking their new families on holiday .
"It's certainly attractive because you can put your child to bed upstairs and cook your own meal and that is an attractive proposition for a lot of people," an AITO spokesperson said.
"People who are looking for a holiday with an element of independence might also want to choose the self catering option," she added.
Meanwhile, a recent survey by price comparison website Kelkoo found that the number of people searching for holidays in the UK has increased by 39 per cent during the past 12 months.
