Eastern Europe Recommended For Budget Skiers

Mon, 24 Nov 2008

Ski enthusiasts looking to lower their travel costs have been advised to head to Eastern Europe for the ideal budget skiing break .

Writing for the Guardian, travel expert Sam Baldwin states that both the skiing itself and night-time activities cost "considerably less" in the east than in the ski resorts of Western Europe .

Ideal locations for skiers seeking value for money include Jasna in Slovakia, Bulgaria’s Borovets and Zakopane in Poland, according to Baldwin.

"Zakopane, Poland's winter capital and largest ski resort, is located in the Tatras Mountains - part of the Carpathian range," he commented.

The writer adds that the resort is popular with Poles, meaning nightlife at the resort is guaranteed to be busy, "with plenty of apres action".

Earlier in the month skiers were advised to ensure that they shop around for the best insurance policy before embarking on their travels.

Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at the British Insurance Brokers' Association, suggested that skiers could make significant savings on their policies by consulting an insurance broker .
