Canada has been named as one of the worlds top ten places to visit in 2009 by the one of the world's most respected travel guide publishers.
Lonely Planet has included the country in its Best in Travel 2009 guide, set to be released in October. The groups latest guide will include advice on hundreds of the top trends, destinations and experiences in global tourism .
"Canada is too polite to say so, but it's ready to be feted," commented the editors. "Winter or summer, Canada is a land of action, with an insane amount of terrain to play on."
In response to the Lonely Planet inclusion, the Canadian Tourism Commission said that it is "thrilled" and that the country's mountains, lakes, cities and festivals will now see an influx of the "cool-hunting hipsters" who base their travel plans on the recommendations of Lonely Planet .
The Canadian Tourism Commission is also offering visitors to the country a list of things to do based on their destination.
Tourist attractions in Canada inlcude the International Jazz Festival in Montreal, Quebec, the Calgary Stampede in Alberta, the Stratford Shakespearean festival in Ontario and North America's only ice hotel in Quebec .
