Singapore is fast becoming the number one destination in Asia for entertainment, according to its tourism officials.
The Singapore Tourism Board has highlighted a number of upcoming events and future attractions as evidence of the city states booming entertainment status.
One of the most high-profile events set to take place in Singapore is The Formula One Grand Prix, set to take place on 28 September, which will become the first night race in the sport's history.
The event will be supported by the Singapore GP Season, which will run from 20 September to 5 October and will include the Singapore River Festival and the Singapore Biennale 2008.
Travellers arriving in Singapore in 20089 will be able to attend the opening of the Marina Bay Sands resort, which will boast facilities including Singapore's first casino and the ArtScience Museum .
Attractions already on offer range from the Singapore Flyer - the world's largest observation wheel - to the VivoCity shopping mall located at the harbour front.
Divya Panickar of the Singapore Tourism Board commented: "Singapore has changed greatly over the past few years and people are constantly overwhelmed with its diversity and variety."
"It is no longer perceived as just a stopover destination and with the wealth of new entertainment facilities and attractions and major world events, is fast becoming the place to visit in Asia for a fun packed and varied holiday, complete with a unique Singaporean twist."
