Luxury cruises are becoming more affordable for travellers due to the on-going problems in the global economy, an industry expert has revealed.
According to industry news and reviews website Cruise Critic, many cruise lines are offering significant discounts on their luxury cabins, suites and members-only facilities as they prepare for the tough year ahead.
In response to anticipated demand for luxury options, Cruise Critic said it has reopened a web section dedicated to high-end travel, providing information on ships and ports of call.
The websites editor-in-chief, Carolyn Spencer Brown, said: "High-end cruise ships are one of the few places you can still find real luxury, and - crazy as it might seem - this year may actually be the right time to take that exotic trip or luxury cruise you have always dreamed of.
From next week, cruise travellers will be able to book cut-price deals with one of the sectors largest operators, P&O Cruises .
The companys 2010/11 programme of world cruise sectors, which offers 57 cruise-only holidays ranging from 13 to 37 nights, will go on sale from September 1.
Discounts of up to 45 per cent and on-board credit of up to £500 per person will be available for bookings made before the end of November.
