British travellers expect to spend more than £1,700 on leisure travel next year, according to new research by travel reviews and advice portal TripAdvisor.com.
In its latest Travel Trends report, it shows 71 per cent of Britons are likely to spend over £1,700, while a further 28 per cent are expecting to spend over £5,300 in 2010.
The report also found that Virgin Atlantic is UK travellers favourite airline, ahead of British Airways, while the least popular is Ryanair.
According to the report, the most important factor when choosing an airline is price, with just under a quarter (23 per cent) of the 600 Britons surveyed saying they would still be prepared to fly with the same carrier following a bad experience if it was the cheapest.
In addition, 41 per cent of respondents said the brand of an airline is very or extremely important when deciding who to book with.
In terms of in-flight mobile and internet use, 13 per cent said mobile phones should be allowed on flights, up 3 per cent from 2008, while 62 per cent said internet access should be allowed, a 16 per cent rise from last year.
