A new list of the worlds leading hotels has highlighted the quality of accommodation on offer to holidaymakers in Africa .
Five of the top ten hotels for 2009, published by Travel and Leisure magazine, are located on the African continent, including the worlds number one.
The publication named Singita Sabi Sand in South Africas Kruger National Park area as its top hotel for 2009, saying that it offers "exceptional design, cuisine and service".
The Fairmont Mara Safari Club in Kenya was ranked third in the Travel and Leisure list, while Kirawira Camp in Tanzania, the Sabi Sabi private reserve in South Africa and Tortilis Camp in Kenya also claimed a top ten place.
Another country offering top quality accommodation options this year is India, according to the magazine's research, with the Oberoi hotel chain's Rajvilas in Jaipur, Udaivilas in Udaipur and Amarvilas in Agra appearing in the top six.
Completing Travel and Leisure's list of the ten best hotels in 2009 was Triple Creek Ranch in Montana, USA and Domaine des Hauts de Loire in France's Loire Valley .
