Number One Airport Award For Seoul Incheon

Fri, 12 Jun 2009

Seoul Incheon in South Korea has been crowned the world’s best airport at the 2009 World Airport Awards ceremony.

The South Korean hub came top of the Best International Airport list, beating Hong Kong International - the most frequent winner of the award in recent years – to the prestigious title.

Changi airport in Singapore claimed third place, while Zurich and Munich completed the 2009 World Airport Awards top five list.

Edward Plaisted, chief executive of Skytrax - the company that runs the awards - said: "An airport is looking to deliver world-class standards that will persuade customers to want to use it again and achieving this loyalty demands the highest levels of quality leadership consistency."

"It is very clear from the 2009 survey results that Incheon International is setting the current global quality benchmark across these front-line airport service categories."

This year’s voting was based on the views of some 8.6 million air travellers who were polled on every aspect of their air travel experience, from the check-in process to flight departure
