British Airways has revealed what it expects to be the ten most popular travel destinations in 2010.
At the summit of the top 10 list is Cape Town, South Africa, which is expected to see record visitor numbers next summer as one of hosts of the 2010 FIFA World Cup .
Other long-haul locations listed include the Maldives, Delhi and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, which BA predicted will be 'one of the emerging destinations for holidaymakers' next year.
According to BA, North American hotspots in 2010 will include New York, Las Vegas and Vancouver, while Stockholm, Istanbul and Dubrovnik will be among the most popular European destinations.
Commenting on the list, Richard Tams, head of UK and Ireland sales for BA, said: "Customers recognise that there's a world of opportunity out there from tiger safari in India, to the FIFA World Cup in South Africa and the bright lights of Las Vegas ."
"In 2010, holidaymakers will have more choice of beach destinations than ever, especially with our new services to Punta Cana, Sharm el Sheikh and the Maldives ."
