British travellers visiting popular Eastern European destinations have been advised to stock up on shopping bargains and presents for Christmas .
According to a study by the Post Office Travel Services, Eastern European destinations such as Prague, Warsaw and Budapest currently offer the best value for UK visitors.
Prague was named the cheapest city for festive shopping, with a basket of eight typical Christmas gifts costing 9 per cent less than in Paris .
Festive shopping trips in Warsaw and Krakow in Poland were also found to offer good value for Brits, with the value of the pound against the zloty currently up 6 per cent from a year ago.
In terms of general living expenses, the Post Office research found that Budapest is the most affordable destination, with a cost an evening meal for two and four drinks coming to of £25.40.
Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Services, said: "Sterling continues to move up and down on a daily basis against the euro but the eastern European currencies - particularly the Polish zloty - have remained weak and this means that Christmas shoppers can get the most for their money in cities like Prague, Warsaw and Budapest ."
