Etihad Airways received a double boost this week, picking up two prestigious accolades at the final of this years World Travel Awards.
The Abu Dhabi-based carrier was named the world's leading airline for 2009 and was also voted best first class carrier.
Other airline awards went to easyJet, which was recognised as the leading budget carrier, Virgin Atlantic (best transatlantic operator) and Qatar Airways (best business class airline).
The accolade for the world's leading destination went to London, while the best emerging business location award went to Doha .
In the hotels category, The Burj Al Arab in Dubai was voted the world's number one hotel, while the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in Londons Park Lane was named the best city hotel .
Graham Cooke, president and founder of the World Travel Awards, said: "Today's winners have not only been recognised as the best in their region, but they have proved themselves to be the best in the world and the number one choice of travel professionals and consumers alike."
