The company revealed that thousands of Brits have been exchanging their sterling for the currencies of various long-haul destinations such as Kenya and Egypt, both of which have recently experienced a significant growth in demand.
Holidays to China and Indonesia have also proved popular this season, with the Post Office noticing an increase in demand for the Chinese yuan and the Indonesian rupiyah currencies .
According to the company, there has also been a strong interest in cheap short and mid-haul destinations, such as Croatia and Turkey .

October is often a popular month for holidaying Brits, with many heading abroad during the half-term week. Last month’s school half-term saw some 4.8 million people travel overseas for a short break .
