Cool Brand Recognition For Virgin Atlantic

Mon, 12 Oct 2009

British airline Virgin Atlantic is officially the world’s coolest travel brand after becoming the only travel industry firm to be voted into the 2009/10 CoolBrands Top 20 list.

The carrier, which is part of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, was assessed for its style, innovation, originality and desirability by members of the British public.

The CoolBrands recognition follows Virgin Atlantic’s 'Still Red Hot' TV campaign, which was launched earlier this year to celebrate the airline’s 25th year in operation.

CEO Steve Ridgway said that the firm was "delighted" to be the only travel company to make it into the top 20 CoolBrands as it highlights its broader commitment to brand excellence.

"It is testament to Virgin Atlantic's continuing widespread and international appeal, and demonstrates that we are still red hot 25 years on," he added.

Stephen Cheliotis, chief executive of the Centre for Brand Analysis, said: "Competition to be seen as one of the coolest brands in the UK is as fierce as ever and clearly Virgin Atlantic is delivering in the eyes of experts and the public."

Virgin Atlantic was recently voted 'Best Transatlantic Business Class ' carrier and 'Favourite Long Haul Travel Airline' at this year's Conde Nast Readers' Travel Awards.

The airline also scooped awards for ‘Best Premium Economy Class’ and ‘Best Airport Lounge’ at last month’s Business Traveller Awards 2009.
