British travellers seeking value for money holidays this winter have been advised to head to the Far East .
A long-haul holiday report, published by Post Office Travel Services, claims Thailand offers the best value in terms of holiday spending costs, followed by Bali and Malaysia .
"When it comes to both cost and value for money, Thailand, Bali and Malaysia are the top three hotspots this winter," said Sarah Munro, head of Travel Services at the Post Office .
"Not only are they the cheapest in our Holiday Costs Barometer survey of living costs but great deals on package holidays are on offer too."
The report adds that western destinations such as the US, Mexico and Jamaica are also among the top winter holiday hotspots for value following a recovery in the value of the pound.
The growing strength of the pound against the dollar means bookings to US destinations such as Florida, New York and Las Vegas are once again proving popular among Brits this winter.
"The USA is an incredibly resilient holiday destination whatever the exchange rate," Munro added.
"Sterling's recent recovery together with price-cutting by holiday operators and US retailers means that a trip stateside will still be good value - especially for shopping."
