Teletext Holidays And Tesco Agree Deal To Open 20 Travel Stores

Teletext Holidays has announced a new partnership with supermarket giant Tesco to open up to 20 retail outlets across the UK over the next two years.

Speaking at ABTA's Travel Convention in Barcelona, Teletext Holidays managing director Victoria Sanders said the travel operator has signed a deal with the UK’s largest retailer to open new agencies in, or next to, existing Tesco stores .

The first Teletext Holidays' outlet is scheduled to open for business on December 2 in the Tesco Extra store in Pitsea, Essex .

Sanders said the shop will sell products from its sister online travel agency, Thisistravel.co.uk, and will also handle any excess calls from the agency’s call centre during busy times.

She added that two of the next five store locations have been confirmed, while sites for the other three are currently being discussed with Tesco officials.

Commenting on the deal, the Teletext Holidays MD said: "This is about brand awareness and it is an exciting move to develop our business."

"In store, customers can access the teletextholiday.co.uk media site on self-service pods, as well as tap into the expertise of a travel agent ."
