Travel Counsellors Voted Best Travel Agent In Britain

Travel Counsellors has been named the UK's Best Travel Agent by readers of the Guardian and Observer newspapers.

The holiday operator received the award for the third time at the 23rd annual Guardian and Observer Travel Awards ceremony, which was this year held in Bangkok, Thailand .

Travel Counsellors was given a near-perfect score of 99.7 per cent overall by more than 19,000 Guardian and Observer readers who were asked to rate the quality of service they received on their holidays .

Receiving the accolade, company chairman David Speakman said: "We are delighted to receive the prestigious title of Best Travel Agent ."

"The fact that this is the third time we have won this award is a fantastic achievement, and is a public acknowledgement from our customers that the level of service we offer is a cut above the competition."

Other prestigious awards went to New Zealand, which was once again voted the number one long-haul country in the world with satisfaction rating of 98.1 per cent, while Switzerland won the award for best European country.

Sydney was named the most the most popular overseas city, Edinburgh won the award for readers’ favourite UK city and Iguazu Falls on the border between Argentina and Brazil was voted the most popular overseas attraction.

In the airlines category, the award for best short-haul airline went to Swiss International, while Singapore Airlines scooped awards for best long-haul best business carrier.
