British Airways Launches New First Class Service

Wed, 17 Feb 2010

British Airways has unveiled a new range of first class products and services for its premium passengers.

The UK carrier has carried out a £100m overhaul of its first class flight service in a bid to improve comfort and convenience for its high-paying customers.

BA’s first class suite now includes a bed that 60 per cent wider at the shoulders, a personal wardrobe, a 15-inch in-flight entertainment system, electronically adjustable blinds and lighting, and a writing desk that converts into a dining table.

Mark Hassell, head of customer experience at British Airways, said the airline's aim was to give its first class travellers an "intimate private jet experience".

He added: "We have resisted gadgets and gimmicks and focused instead on simplicity and quality. Every feature has been carefully considered and researched to ensure we are giving our customers what they want."

British Airways launched its new range of first class amenities on a Boeing 777 flight to Chicago last week, and is promoting the revamped service in a new advertising campaign featuring actress Rachel Weisz.

The airline has also announced it will begin using greener fuel by 2014 as part of its plans to halve carbon emissions over the next 40 years.
