Snowfall Drives Ski Break Bookings Across Europe

The European ski industry has been booted by the recent unprecedented levels of snowfall across parts of the continent, it has been revealed.

According to travel industry news portal traveldaily.co.uk, ski holiday specialist Ski Europe has been "inundated with calls" from couples and families deciding to make the most of the snow by booking a ski break .

Sammi Nisbet, Managing Director of Ski Europe Online, described the recent heavy snowfall in the UK has as "a life saver" for the country’s ski industry.

She said: "Non-discounted sales for holidays during the Christmas week were at an all time industry low this year, so the blizzards that have swept the UK and the continent, and thus inspired bookings, have been a welcome relief. Year-on-year, this week’s bookings are up by over 150 per cent."

The Ski Club of Great Britain, the UK’s leading snowsports membership club, has also seen a rise in bookings in its own unique holiday programme called Ski Freshtracks .

Katy Ellis, Ski Freshtracks senior sales consultant, said: "The snow here in the UK has really got people in the mood for skiing ."

"With fantastic conditions across resorts at the moment people have been keen to book onto our January holidays so they can get out and enjoy the snow".

Over the weekend it was reported that Glenshee in Scotland - one of the country’s five skiing areas – saw more than 12,000 skiers and snowboarders take to the slopes between Christmas Eve and 5 January to enjoy the exceptional ski conditions.
